Foreign purchases of Canadian securities drop sharply in August

(Reuters) - Foreign investment in Canadian securities slowed markedly to C$2.08 billion ($2.02 billion) in August from C$6.11 billion in July, as nonresidents sold off bonds and shares, Statistics Canada said on Thursday.

Canadian investors bought C$5.65 billion worth of foreign securities, sharply up from purchases of C$0.95 billion in July.
