Canada September retail sales down 0.1% on lower sales of autos, gas

(Reuters) - Canadian retail sales were down 0.1% in September from August at C$51.58 billion ($39.85 billion), on weaker sales at motor vehicle and parts dealers, as well as gasoline stations, Statistics Canada said on Friday.

Sales decreased in six of 11 subsectors, representing 47% of retail trade. In volume terms, retail sales edged down by 0.1%.
