Canadian housing starts jump 15.8% in March: CMHC

Canadian housing starts climbed in March compared with the previous month as groundbreaking increased on both multiple unit and single detached urban homes, data from the national housing agency showed on Monday.

The seasonally adjusted annualized rate of housing starts rose to 192,527 units from a revised 166,290 units in February, the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) said. Economists had expected starts to rise to 196,500.
