Stock futures pointed to a lower opening for Canada’s main stock index on Friday ahead of a key U.S. payrolls report, which will shed light on the health of the world’s largest economy.
December futures on the S&P/TSX index were down 0.24% at 7:00 a.m. ET.
Canada’s trade data is due at 8:30 a.m. ET
The Toronto Stock Exchange’s TSX rose 0.36 percent to 16,369.03 on Thursday.
Dow Jones Industrial Average e-mini futures were down 0.36% at 7:00 a.m. ET, while S&P 500 e-mini futures were down 0.41% and Nasdaq 100 e-mini futures were down 0.36%.
Spirit AeroSystems Holdings Inc has emerged as the front-runner to acquire Bombardier Inc’s aerostructures facilities in Belfast and Morocco, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.
The Canadian dollar will gain ground against its U.S. counterpart over the coming year, supported by strengthening of the domestic economy and a narrower gap between Canadian and U.S. interest rates, a Reuters poll predicted.
