TORONTO, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Canada’s main stock index ticked higher early on Thursday, helped by gains in its heavyweight energy sector led by Canadian Natural Resources Ltd after it reported better-than-expected quarterly profit and plans to cut capital spending.
The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was up 14.59 points, or 0.1 percent, at 15,280.22 shortly after the open. Seven of the index’s 10 main groups were higher. (Reporting by Alastair Sharp)
