TSX rises as higher metal prices support materials stocks

TORONTO (Reuters) - Canada’s main stock index rose on Thursday, led by the materials group as gold and copper prices rose.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 44.60 points, or 0.32 percent, at 13,955.89, shortly after the open. Six of its 10 main groups were higher.
