TORONTO, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Canada’s main stock index lost ground in early trade on Friday, weighed by losses among its heavyweight energy and materials sectors as oil and gas prices fell.
The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was down 32.38 points, or 0.21 percent, at 15,179.49 shortly after the open. It is on track for a 0.8 percent gain on the week. (Reporting by Alastair Sharp; Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)
