Aug 24 (Reuters) - Futures pointed to a higher opening for Canada’s main stock index on Thursday ahead of the annual gathering of central bankers at Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
September futures on the S&P TSX index were up 0.23 percent at 7:15 a.m. ET.
Canada’s benchmark stock index rose on Wednesday, after upbeat quarterly results from Royal Bank of Canada helped lift financial stocks, and higher oil prices gave oil and gas companies a boost.
Dow Jones Industrial Average e-mini futures were up 0.17 percent at 7:15 a.m. ET, while S&P 500 e-mini futures were up 0.14 percent and Nasdaq 100 e-mini futures were up 0.27 percent.
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce reported third-quarter earnings ahead of market expectations, with a strong performance from its retail business offsetting a weaker showing at its investment banking division.
The review of TransCanada Corp’s proposed Energy East pipeline will consider its indirect greenhouse gas contributions, Canada’s National Energy Board regulator said on Wednesday, expanding the scope of the assessment.
