Toronto stocks little changed, lifted by resources

TORONTO, Feb 28 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index was little changed at the open on Thursday, as losses in the heavyweight banking sector were offset by advances in the resources space.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 6.80 points, or 0.05 percent, at 13,785.18 just after the opening bell with four of its 10 main groups in positive territory.

The energy group gained 0.6 percent while the price of oil rose above $100 a barrel amid news of a production problem in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the financial group was off 0.5 percent, after Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CM.TO) posted a first-quarter loss.
