TORONTO, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index opened lower on Thursday as materials producers were hit by weaker gold prices and shares of big Canadian banks fell.
At 9:30 a.m. (1430 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 27.88 points, or 0.24 percent, at 11,651.44. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
