Toronto stocks power higher as financials gain

TORONTO, May 1 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index charged ahead on Thursday, helped by an afternoon rally in financials amid further optimism that the worst of the credit troubles have been seen.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 116.34 points, or 0.83 percent, at 14,053.38. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Peter Galloway)
