Toronto stocks cut losses as banks offset resources

TORONTO, July 22 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index trimmed earlier steep losses to end slightly lower on Tuesday as a bounce in financials offset a drop in resource shares due to tumbling commodity prices.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 28.00 points, or 0.2 percent, at 13,661.19. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Peter Galloway)
