Toronto stock index jumps 100 pts on commodities

TORONTO, Aug 21 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index rose more than 100 points near the open on Thursday, as energy and materials stocks got a big boost from strength in the underlying commodities.

Shortly after the open, the S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 107.43 points, or 0.8 percent, at 13,457.57. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Scott Anderson)
