Toronto stock index opens up 1.9 pct on commodities

TORONTO, Oct 3 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index opened more than 200 points higher on Friday after a near 7-percent drop the previous session on strength in commodity stocks and ahead of a vote on the revised U.S. bailout package for the financial industry.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 201.99 points, or 1.85 percent, at 11,102.53. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Peter Galloway)
