TORONTO, Feb 5 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index rose 1 percent midday on Thursday, boosted by strength in the materials sector as gold prices climbed, as well as a rebound in financial shares.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 1.04 percent, or 90.83 points, to 8,783.92, with nine of the index’s main groups higher. Earlier, the index had fallen nearly 1 percent. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
