CANADA STOCKS-Commodities lift TSX 1.7 pct at open

TORONTO, May 7 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index rallied 1.7 percent on Thursday at market open as commodity prices powered the energy and materials groups.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 171.19 points, or 1.69 percent, to 10,314.62. All 10 sectors advanced. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
