CANADA STOCKS-TSX extends gain as resources turn higher

TORONTO, May 14 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index rose on Thursday morning on strength in financial and consumer stocks, while the energy sector rose despite lower oil prices.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 98.71 points, or 1.02 percent, at 9,808.22. Nine of the index’s 10 main groups advanced, including the materials and energy groups, which turned higher after initial weakness. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
