CANADA STOCKS-TSX briefly turns negative

TORONTO, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index turned lower briefly on Thursday morning as weak financial shares overshadowed stronger-than-expected U.S. economic data.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE dipped 0.18 of a point to 11,647.94.

Royal Bank of Canada RY.TO fell 3.3 percent to C$49.02 after the country’s biggest bank reported an 18 percent drop in profit, missing analysts’ estimates. [ID:nN26176305] (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
