TORONTO, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index shot higher in early dealings on Wednesday as heavily weighted financial and resource shares rallied following news of a rebound in manufacturing growth in China.
The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE opened up 0.37 of a point at 11,914.23.
It quickly extended gains, rising 87.72 points, or 0.74 percent, to 12,001.58, the index’s highest since June 21. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
