TORONTO, May 9 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index opened higher on Monday as commodity prices recovered from last week’s hefty losses, boosting shares of mining and energy companies.
The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 0.78 of a point to 13,567.38, then quickly extended gains. Eight of the index’s 10 main groups were up, led by a 1-percent jump in the materials group.
