TORONTO, Feb 16 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index rose 1 percent on Wednesday afternoon on climbing energy and financial shares.
The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose as high as 14,068.19, up 138.84 points, its highest level since since July 7, 2008.
A hefty rise in Research In Motion RIM.TO shares, which won a “buy” recommendation from Citigroup, contributed to the index’s broad rally. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
