CANADA STOCKS-Record gold, miners pull TSX to stronger close

TORONTO, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index climbed to a higher close on Tuesday on the back of rising metal prices, with gold at a record high and copper firming after weak U.S. economic data pushed the U.S. dollar lower.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 88.28 points, or 0.72 percent, at 12,278.88. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
