Greg Zeurlein injured his groin in pregame warmups on Sunday, which sent the Los Angeles Rams kicking the tires on replacement options.
The Rams are sticking with a known commodity, Sam Ficken, the former Penn State kicker who filled in for Zeurlein late last season and into the playoffs.
According to reports, the Rams were one of several teams who reached out to former Dallas Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey, the second-most accurate placekicker in league history. But Bailey, who reportedly also declined an opportunity with the Cleveland Browns, showed no interest.
Ficken replaced Zeurlein — who had a back injury — for two regular-season games and the postseason in 2017. He made 2 of 3 field goal tries in the regular season. Back with the team for training camp this summer, Ficken kicked in all four preseason games and converted all four FG attempts.
