BUZZ-Solar shares shine

** Shares of solar companies gained on Tuesday with the U.S. election under way and with Vivint Solar's news late Monday that it had secured $200 million of tax equity commitments

** Democrat Hillary Clinton, who has pushed for more use of clean energy including solar panels, was ahead of Republican Donald Trump in most polls just before the vote

** Vivint Solar was up 8.6 pct, while shares of SunPower were up 3.8 pct, JinkoSolar, SolarCity was up 2.2 pct, Sunrun was up 3.1 pct and Canadian Solar was up 3.5 pct

** Goldman Sachs upgraded Sunrun and Vivint last month

** Clean energy companies like solar typically benefit from government incentives like tax credits for consumers
