BUZZ-Kansas City Southern, American Axle shares hit by NAFTA news

** Shares of Kansas City Southern down 4.4 pct at $86.41 in Weds afternoon trading after reports that the White House was readying an order to quit the North American Free Trade Agreement

** Regional U.S. railroad has an extensive network in Mexico; just last Fri the stock fell on worries about the co’s operations in Mexico even as its Q1 earnings topped expectations

** Unclear whether order would be enacted by President Trump, who has vowed to pull out from NAFTA - a U.S., Mexico and Canada trade pact - if he cannot win better terms for America

** YTD, KSU stock up 1.8 pct vs 13.8 pct gain for Dow Jones US Railroads index

** Shares of American Axle & Manufacturing, which has a big presence in Mexico, also dropped after NAFTA news; though AXL shares now little changed in late trade
