April 15 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks to watch on Monday:


U.S. stock index futures were lower, putting the S&P 500 on track to dip for a second consecutive session after data from China showed slower growth than anticipated. S&P 500 futures were down 8.4 points, the Dow Jones industrial average futures were down 50 points, and Nasdaq 100 futures were down 12.75 points.

** SPRINT-NEXTEL CORP, Friday close $6.22, up 15 pct premarket

** DISH NETWORK CORP, Friday close $37.63, down 2 pct premarket

** CLEARWIRE CORP, Friday close $3.26, up 1.5 pct premarket

Dish, the No. 2 U.S. satellite television provider, offered to buy Sprint for $25.5 billion in cash and stock, a move that could thwart the proposed acquisition of Sprint by Japan’s SoftBank Corp. Dish’s bid is the latest development in a shakeup of the U.S. wireless business, which is undergoing a wave of consolidation. Dish was already in amid an unsolicited offer for Clearwire, the wireless company majority owned by Sprint.

** CITIGROUP INC, Friday close $44.78, up 2 pct premarket

The bank reported a 31 percent rise in first-quarter profit as it drew down loss reserves for mortgage loans, and revenue from its securities and investment banking business swelled.

** LIFE TECHNOLOGIES CORP, Friday close $68.00, up 9 pct premarket

** THERMO FISHER SCIENTIFIC INC, Friday close $79.59, up 0.5 pct premarket

The genetic testing equipment maker has agreed to a $13.6 billion cash buyout by Thermo Fisher, in one of the year’s biggest corporate takeovers. The acquisition values Life Technologies at $76 per share and would catapult Thermo Fisher into the hot field of genetic sequencing where researchers, drugmakers and doctors are uncovering the genetic factors underpinning diseases to better tailor treatments to the patients.

** NEWMONT MINING CORP, Friday close $36.37, down 5 pct premarket

** FREEPORT-MCMORAN COPPER & GOLD INC, Friday close $31.92, down 6 pct premarket

** BARRICK GOLD CORP , Friday close $22.62, down 4.5 pct premarket

** YAMANA GOLD INC , Friday close $13.09, down 8 pct premarket

** GOLDCORP INC , Friday close $29.68, down 7 pct premarket

Gold dropped as much as 6.3 percent on Monday to below $1,400 per ounce for the first time since March 2011, dragging down stocks of the gold producers. Investors ditched gold along with other commodities from oil to copper after a less-than-forecast growth in China’s gross domestic product in the first quarter stoked doubts about the health of the global economy. Spot gold dropped as low as $1,384.69 an ounce and was at $1,409.26 by 1048 GMT, still down 4.7 percent.

** IAMGOLD CORP , Friday close $5.77, down 8 pct premarket

Canadian gold miner Iamgold Corp said the Suriname parliament on Saturday approved the agreement that the company signed last November with the South American country’s government to expand its Rosebel mine.

** COEUR D‘ALENE MINES CORP, Friday close $16.65, down 7 pct premarket

The largest U.S.-based silver miner reported a 22 percent drop in first-quarter silver production due to lower grade ore processed at its Palmarejo mine in Mexico. Coeur D‘Alene produced 3.8 million ounces silver in the quarter. Average realized price was $30.61 per ounce.

** METROPCS COMMUNICATIONS, Friday close $11.52, down 0.3 pct premarket

The company amended the terms for its proposed merger with Deutsche Telekom unit T-Mobile USA, and asked shareholders to vote for the deal.

The move follows Deutsche Telekom sweetening its offer last Wednesday, bowing to pressure from activists and proxy advisory firms.

** ACORDA THERAPEUTICS INC, Friday close $31.52, up 8.6 pct premarket

The pharmaceutical company said results of a mid-stage study testing a 10 mg dose of its multiple sclerosis drug Ampyra showed improved walking ability in people who suffered a stroke. This study included 83 participants who experienced a stroke due to blood clots at least six months prior to enrollment and had chronic problems in movements.

** NATIONAL FINANCIAL PARTNERS, Friday close $23.41, up 6 pct premarket

The wealth management company said it agreed to be bought by private equity investment firm Madison Dearborn Partners LLC for about $1.3 billion, including debt.

** MECHEL OAO , Friday close $4.30, down 9 pct premarket

The heavily indebted Russian miner reported bigger than expected fourth-quarter losses due to weak demand on Monday, sending its share price to a record low.

** GEVO INC, Friday close $2.09, up 3.5 pct after market

The biofuel company filed for a mixed shelf offering of a combination of its common stock, preferred stock or debt of up to $250 million, according to a regulatory filing on Friday. (r.reuters.com/dud47t)

** J.C. PENNEY CO INC, Friday close $14.62, up 3 pct premarket

A New York judge on Friday handed the embattled department store operator an interim victory in its dispute with Macy’s Inc over goods designed by Martha Stewart.

** AMAZON.COM INC, Friday close $272.87, down 0.4 pct premarket

The world’s largest Internet retailer increased stock compensation for key executives in 2012, according to a regulatory filing on Friday, in which Amazon added Apple Inc to the peer group it uses to help determine how much to pay executives.

** GOLDMAN SACHS GROUP INC, Friday close $149.12, up 0.3 pct premarket

The company’s board awarded Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein a 75 percent increase in compensation, to $21 million, for 2012 - including pay, bonus and restricted stock award.

** M&T BANK CORP, Friday close $100.24

** HUDSON CITY BANCORP INC, Friday close $8.29
