July 5 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks on the move on Friday:


U.S. stocks rose in a choppy session after robust jobs data pointed to a strengthening economy, even as it raised the odds that the Fed will begin to cut its stimulus measures as soon as September. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.62 percent, the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index up 0.58 percent and the Nasdaq Composite Index up 0.60 percent.

** NOVAVAX INC, $2.54, up 8 pct (1336 ET)

The drugmaker’s stock gained for the third day after the company said on Wednesday its experimental vaccine for respiratory tract infections exhibited antibody responses in a 220-patient early-stage study. This puts Novavax in a position to create and test an innovative seasonal flu vaccine combination, said MLV & Co, which has a “buy” rating and a target price of $8.50 on the stock.

** WORLD ACCEPTANCE CORP, $80.00, down 10 pct (1012 ET)

The lender was unable to file certain portions of its results for the year ended March 31 because of unexpected delays in the additional review of its loan loss allowance, the company said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday. The company said an amended report may show a "material weakness" in determining its allowance for loan losses. (link.reuters.com/hyr49t)

Global Hunter Securities cut its price target on oil and gas producer Linn Energy’s stock to $23 from $34 and reiterated its “reduce” rating, raising doubts about company affiliate LinnCo’s proposed buyout of Berry. Analyst Bernard Colson said the informal inquiry by U.S. regulators into Linn’s financial activities spoils the concept of LinnCo, which was set up to raise money for acquisitions. “(Berry) shareholders are not likely to vote ‘yes’ on the ballot concerning the acquisition...,” he said.

** DELL INC, $12.86, down 3.4 pct (1332)

Shares of Dell fell more than 3 percent on Friday as investors grew skeptical that founder Michael Dell and Silver Lake Partners will raise their $24.4 billion buyout bid to overcome growing opposition.

The European Union and China are moving towards a deal to defuse a conflict over alleged dumping of solar panels in Europe, officials from both sides said on Friday, aiming to head off a damaging trade war in goods from steel to wine.

** ALAMOS GOLD INC, $11.71, down 7.6 pct

** YAMANA GOLD INC, $8.99, down 7.6 pct

** RANDGOLD RESOURCES LTD, $60.98, down 5.4 pct

Gold fell 3 percent, extending earlier losses as the dollar climbed after stronger-than-expected U.S. jobs data, which could tempt the Fed to start scaling back its monetary stimulus later this year. Spot gold dropped as much as 2.9 percent to a session low of $1,212.70 an ounce. U.S. gold futures for August fell $38.40 to $1,213.14.

** GOLDCORP INC, $23.52, down 5 pct (0942 ET)

Goldcorp said on Thursday it has halted all construction work at its Eleonore gold project in northern Quebec and started evacuating staff from the site due to forest fires in the region.

** TRANSDIGM GROUP INC, $156.68, up 2 pct (0946 ET)

The aircraft components maker announced a special cash dividend of $22 per share. The company also said its subsidiary, TransDigm Inc, received an additional incremental term loan of $900 million and completed an offering of $500 million. The interest on the new debt is modestly lower than the existing debt, the group said.

** D.R. HORTON INC, $20.35, down 3 pct (1001 ET)

** PULTEGROUP INC, $18.57, down 3 pct

** TOLL BROTHERS INC, $31.47, down 3 pct

** LENNAR CORP, $34.07, down 4 pct

** KB HOME, $18.09, down 3.3 pct

** MERITAGE HOMES CORP, $42.245, down 4.5 pct

Shares of homebuilders fell on fears that a strengthening U.S. economy would keep the Federal Reserve on track to scale back its massive monetary stimulus later this year, leading to an increase in mortgage rates.

** NEW YORK MORTGAGE TRUST INC, $6.05, down 9 pct (1121 ET)

** ARMOUR RESIDENTIAL REIT INC, $4.29, down 7 pct

** CHIMERA INVESTMENT CORP, $2.77, down 3.4 pct


** ANNALY CAPITAL MANAGEMENT INC, $11.51, down 5.1 pct


Shares of mortgage real estate investment trusts also fell on the jobs data.


** MARATHON PETROLEUM CORP, $68.39, down 3.3 pct

** HOLLYFRONTIER CORP, $39.43, down 3 pct

BofA Merrill Lynch downgraded the inland U.S. petroleum refiners’ stocks due to the narrowing price gap between U.S. and Brent crude oil grades, according to streetInsider.com. The premium of North Sea Brent to U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate CL-LCO1=R fell to $4.80 on Friday, wiping margins at inland refiners who earlier tapped cheaper domestic crude.

** LULULEMON ATHLETICA INC, $63.43, down 2 pct (0943 ET)

Chairman Dennis “Chip” Wilson is looking to sell up to 3.4 million shares of the yogawear retailer, reducing the stake he controls in the company to 25 percent from 28 percent, according to an SEC filing. (Compiled by; Editing by)
