The Dow Jones industrial average was down 0.09 percent at 17,671.96, the S&P 500 was down 0.21 percent at 2,047.41 and the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.37 percent at 4,684.941.
** SECOND SIGHT MEDICAL PRODUCTS INC, $19.85, +120.56 pct
Shares of the company, a maker of artificial retinas that partially restores sight for the blind, rose as much as 150 percent in their market debut. The company’s offering of 3.5 million shares priced was at $9 per share, raising $31.5 million.
** STAGE STORES INC, $18.6, +18.17 pct
The apparel and accessories retailer reported better-than-expected third-quarter revenue as sales quickened during the back-to-school season and demand rose for its warm clothing in autumn.
The company forecast flat to 2 percent comparable sales growth in the holiday shopping quarter.
** CONSTELLIUM NV, $17.73, -15.45 pct
The aluminum products maker’s third-quarter net income fell 73 percent. The company said it records unrealized losses of 33 million euros ($41.40 mln) on derivatives
** CHINA DISTANCE EDUCATION HOLDINGS LTD, $17.88, +19.44 pct
The Chinese education company’s fourth-quarter revenue increased 30 percent, driven by 15 percent rise in enrollments.
The company said it expects 2015 revenue to rise 27-32 percent.
** CLIFFS NATURAL RESOURCES INC, $8.71, -14.69 pct
The miner said it may have to close its Bloom Lake iron ore mine in Quebec, weeks after it revealed that three “big steelmakers” were in talks to invest in the project.
** OPLINK COMMUNICATIONS INC, $24.18, +13.79 pct
Koch Industries subsidiary Koch Optics Inc will buy the optical networking device maker for about $445 million in cash, or $24.25 per share.
The price represents about 14 percent premium to Oplink stock’s closing price on Tuesday.
** AGIOS PHARMACEUTICALS INC, $96.69, +15.37 pct
The drug developer said its experimental blood cancer drug, AG-120, showed significant clinical activity in an early stage trial.
Canaccord Genuity raised its price target on the stock to $111 from $97, the highest among the six brokerages covering the stock.

The Chinese real estate services provider reported lower-than-expected third-quarter revenue and cut its 2014 revenue forecast due to a weak classifieds business.

Robert W. Baird & Co cut its rating on the software maker’s shares to “underperform” from “neutral” and price target to $42 from $47, according to Theflyonthewall.com.
Baird analysts said rising capital expenditure and increasing dependency on customers Verizon Communications Inc and AT&T Inc were hurting pricing.

The U.S. airwaves auction of so-called AWS-3 frequencies on Tuesday breached its reserve price of $10.1 billion, according to the Federal Communications Commission, less than a week after bidding began.
The auction is the largest opportunity for wireless carriers to get access to new airwaves since 2008 and although the bidding is anonymous, the largest U.S. wireless carrier Verizon Communications, No. 2 AT&T, No. 4 T-Mobile US and satellite provider Dish Network were expected to be the biggest bidders.
