BUZZ-U.S. STOCKS ON THE MOVE-Workday, Time Warner Cable, Hormel Foods

** WORKDAY INC, Tuesday close $92.49, -8.69 pct premarket

The human resource software company forecast current-quarter billings below market expectations and reported a bigger quarterly net loss due to higher spending on marketing and product development.

** TIME WARNER CABLE INC, Tuesday close $183.6, +0.14 pct premarket

** CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS INC, Tuesday close $179.78

Time Warner Cable, entering into talks to be acquired by Charter Communications just a month after regulators killed a proposed takeover by Comcast, was determined not to get burned a second time.

Separately, Patrick Drahi, the billionaire owner of European telecoms group Altice, said he put an end to talks to buy Time Warner Cable because his company was not ready, adding that he would not carry out reckless acquisitions.

** COMCAST CORP, Tuesday close $58.59, +0.94 pct premarket

Vox Media, owner of The Verge and other websites, is acquiring Revere Digital, the company that owns technology news website Re/code, according to a post on the Re/code website.

Comcast’s NBCUniversal exchanged its minority interest in Re/code for shares in Vox Media, a source familiar with the transaction said.

** TOLL BROTHERS INC, Tuesday close $36.99, +0.30 pct premarket

The largest U.S. luxury homebuilder, reported a better-than-expected quarterly profit and raised the low end of its average selling price forecast for the full year as demand strengthens.

** ALIBABA GROUP HOLDING LTD, Tuesday close $92.52, -0.24 pct premarket

China’s banking regulator has given a green light to MYbank, the online bank affiliated with Alibaba, to start operating.

** EXXON MOBIL CORP, Tuesday close $85.35, +0.28 pct premarket

** CHEVRON CORP, Tuesday close $103.29, +0.69 pct premarket

Progressive shareholders are pushing to add directors with climate change expertise to the boards of Exxon and Chevron, arguing the largest U.S. oil companies need more depth of knowledge to navigate environmental issues.

European banks Deutsche Bank, Barclays and UBS have seen their market share in foreign exchange trading slump in the past year, as U.S. banks led by Citigroup grabbed business, according to widely watched industry rankings.

The Obama administration on Tuesday sided against Google and said the U.S. Supreme Court should not hear the company’s appeal in a case against Oracle with wide implications for the technology industry, according to a court filing.

Hormel Foods said it would buy natural and organic meat processor Applegate Farms LLC for about $775 million to cater to an increasing demand for food free of antibiotics, hormones and artificial additives.

** GENERAL ELECTRIC CO, Tuesday close $27.52, +0.04 pct premarket

GE is in advanced talks to sell assets of its vehicle fleet management business, GE Capital Fleet Services, to Element Financial Corp, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

** CRESCENT POINT ENERGY INC, Tuesday close $23.99

Canada’s No.4 independent oil and gas producer, said on Tuesday it has agreed to acquire Legacy Oil + Gas Inc for shares and debt worth C$1.53 billion ($1.23 billion), adding oil production in its core regions in Western Canada and North Dakota.

** TIVO INC, Tuesday close $10.36

The digital video recorder maker reported better-than-expected quarterly revenue and profit, helped by higher subscriptions.

** REYNOLDS AMERICAN INC, Tuesday close $75.43, +2.08 pct premarket

** LORILLARD INC, Tuesday close $72.12

Reynolds American on Tuesday won U.S. antitrust approval to buy smaller rival Lorillard in a deal that would combine the No. 2 and No. 3 U.S. cigarette companies.

** AMAZON.COM INC, Tuesday close $425.47, +0.36 pct premarket
