Dow Jones industrial average futures were up 0.13 percent at 18,048, S&P 500 futures were up 0.18 percent at 2,116.5 and Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.20 percent at 4,542.

** BLACKBERRY LTD, Monday close $9.2, +2.72 pct premarket

The Canadian smartphone maker said its revenue slide began to ease and its turnaround gained traction as revenue from its crucial software segment rose in the first quarter.

** DARDEN RESTAURANTS INC, Monday close $69.38, +4.86 pct premarket

The owner of the Olive Garden restaurant chain said it intends to separate part of its real estate assets into a real estate investment trust (REIT) as part of a plan to pay down about $1 billion of debt.

** VICAL INC, Monday close $1.42, -43.65 pct premarket

Two forms of the drug developer’s experimental vaccine for genital herpes failed in an early stage trial.

** GREEN DOT CORP, Monday close $15.31, +29.13 pct premarket

The debit card company on Monday renewed an agreement with Wal-Mart Stores Inc as issuing bank for MoneyCard prepaid reloadable cards.

Three brokerages, including SunTrust Robinson, raised price targets on the stock on Tuesday.

** SYNERGY PHARMACEUTICALS INC, Monday close $8.27, +3.87 pct premarket

The drug developer said it began a second late-stage study testing its experimental bowel drug, plecanatide, in patients with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation.

** XL GROUP PLC, Monday close $38.51, -1.84 pct premarket

The Irish insurer’s shares fell on unregistered block sale, sources told Reuters. Sources cite UBS reoffering 5 mln shares on behalf of institutional seller in $37.90-$38.15 range versus Monday’s $38.51 close; seller not known.

** BIND THERAPEUTICS INC, Monday close $5.86, +5.63 pct premarket

The drug developer said the FDA authorized the company to start first human trial of AZD2811, which is being developed by Bind and AstraZeneca Plc.

** GASLOG PARTNERS LP, Monday close $25, -7.28 pct premarket

The LNG carrier operator announced public offering of 7.5 mln units to fund acquisition of 3 vessels worth $483 million on Monday. The offering represents a nearly 29 percent of Gaslog Partners’ outstanding shares as of March 30.

** AT&T INC, Monday close $35.04, +1.60 pct premarket

No.2 U.S. telecom company’s shares rose after Barclays Capital raises rating to “overweight” from “equal weight”; PT to $39 from $34.

Barclays analysts say they believe further opportunities exist on cost synergies in DirecTV deal specifically around reduced investment in legacy access technologies.

** WHITESTONE REIT, Monday close $14.19, -3.81 pct premarket

The real estate investment trust’s shares said it plans a public offering of 3.7 million common shares. The offering represents about 16 percent of shares outstanding as of May 3.

** SYNGENTA AG, Monday close $86.51

** MONSANTO CO, Monday close $114.34

Syngenta’s chairman said any takeover offer needed to be at a fair price and provide a high degree of certainty that it will clear regulatory hurdles, as he reaffirmed the Swiss firm’s opposition to Monsanto’s current proposal.

** CATERPILLAR INC, Monday close $88.27

The world’s largest construction and mining equipment maker will lay off another 50 workers at its East Peoria, Illinois campus on Monday because of a downturn in demand for mining equipment, the company said.

** VERIZON COMMUNICATIONS INC, Monday close $47.53

The telecom company said it offered salary hikes to 38,000 employee in its East wireline business after its first negotiating session with representatives of the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

** ORACLE CORP, Monday close $12.75

The business software maker’s founder and Executive Chairman Larry Ellison said his database company is expanding its cloud-computing offerings, bringing Oracle into more direct competition with Amazon.com Inc.

** IHS INC, Monday close $128.63

The business research firm said it expects strong growth in its subscription business and raised its revenue and profit forecasts for the full year, helped by the purchase of mobile network analytics company RootMetrics in April.

** ALIBABA GROUP HOLDING LTD, Monday close $85.68

The Chinese e-commerce company and its affiliate Ant Financial will invest nearly $1 billion in a joint venture that they hope can tap China’s fast-growing local services market, focusing at first on food delivery.
