U.S. stock index futures pointed higher on Thursday after two days of losses as investors awaited a raft of earnings results and weekly jobless numbers. Dow Jones industrial average futures were down 0.03 percent at 17,780, S&P 500 futures were up 0.05 percent at 2,109 and Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.15 percent at 4,623.75.

** SANDISK CORP, Wednesday close $54.18, +12.40 pct premarket

Data storage products maker reported a quarterly profit that was double what analysts had expected, helped by higher retail sales and new products.

** LOGITECH INTERNATIONAL SA, Wednesday close $13.28, +11.37 pct premarket

The Swiss-American gadget maker posted better-than-expected quarterly revenue and earnings per share.

** LAS VEGAS SANDS CORP, Wednesday close $54.96, +3.69 pct premarket

The casino operator said cost cutting at its Macau properties helped it post better second-quarter earnings, compared with the first quarter.

** CIGNA INC, Wednesday close $151.07, +4.59 pct premarket

** ANTHEM INC, Wednesday close $155.1, +3.80 pct premarket

The U.S. health insurer Anthem is close to finalizing negotiations to acquire peer Cigna and could announce a roughly $48 billion deal as early as this week, two people familiar with the matter said on Wednesday.

** CHEESECAKE FACTORY INC, Wednesday close $55.12, +4.12 pct premarket

The restaurant and bakery operator reported better-than-expected profit for the second quarter, helped by lower costs and higher sales at company-owned restaurants.

** QUALCOMM INC, Wednesday close $64.19, -1.67 pct premarket

The chipmaker said it may break itself up as it delivered its third profit warning this year and announced plans to slash jobs and spending in the face of rising competition.

** AMERICAN EXPRESS CO, Wednesday close $78.99, -2.33 pct premarket

The Credit card issuer reported a better-than-expected second-quarter profit as it benefited from cost-savings after cutting jobs.

** DUNKIN’ BRANDS GROUP INC, Wednesday close $56.53, -0.94 pct premarket

The company reported a 11 percent rise in quarterly revenue, helped by more traffic at its Dunkin’ Donuts outlets and licensing fees from sales of its K-Cups coffee pods.

** CISCO, Wednesday close $27.53, +0.80 pct premarket

French media and entertainment technology group Technicolor said on Thursday it had signed an exclusive deal with Cisco to buy its home equipment business for 550 million euros ($602 million) in cash and stock.

** DISH NETWORK CORP, Wednesday close $65.32

U.S. Federal Communications Commission officials on Wednesday told Dish Network that the staff review of the recent airwaves auction found Dish’s two affiliates ineligible for $3.3 billion in small-business discounts.

The package delivery United Parcel is in talks to buy Chicago-based Coyote Logistics LLC for at least $1.8 billion, a source familiar with negotiations said on Wednesday.

The company forecast third-quarter revenue below analysts’ expectations due to weak demand for its chips used in PCs and industrial and communications equipment.

The company said its net profit fell 8 percent in the second quarter due to a drop in demand for the Swiss company’s oil and gas products, slower-than-expected business in the United States, soft demand from China and a strong dollar.

** TECK RESOURCES LTD, Wednesday close $7.97

The canadian miner reported a 21 percent fall in quarterly profit and cut its 2015 coal production forecast due to falling demand from China and increased supply from Australia.

** ELI LILLY AND CO, Wednesday close $86.38, +1.01 pct premarket

The drugmaker said its quarterly revenue rose about 1 percent, helped by demand for its new cancer and diabetes treatments and the acquisition of Novartis AG’s animal health business.

** ALASKA AIR GROUP INC, Wednesday close $75.83

The operator of Alaska Airlines reported a 42 percent rise in second-quarter profit, helped by increasing U.S. travel and low oil prices.


The Canadian drugmaker reported a better-than-expected quarterly profit, helped by strength in its dermatology business in the United States.

** PRECISION DRILLING CORP, Wednesday close $5.13

The Canadian drilling contractor reported a bigger quarterly loss, hurt by lower drilling activity in North America.

** PATTERSON-UTI ENERGY INC, Wednesday close $16.7

The Land rig provider swung to a quarterly loss as oil and gas producers cut back on drilling amid a steep drop in crude prices.

** PULTEGROUP INC, Wednesday close $20.16
