BUZZ-U.S. STOCKS ON THE MOVE-HP, PTC Therapeutics, Guess, Deere

Dow Jones industrial average futures were up 0.23 percent at 17,805, S&P 500 futures were up 0.16 percent at 2,088 and Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.18 percent at 4,674.25.

** HEWLETT PACKARD ENTERPRISE CO, Tuesday close $13.69, +2.34 pct premarket

HP Inc, which houses former Hewlett-Packard Co’s legacy printer and PC business, forecast adjusted profit for the first quarter below market expectations as it struggles with weak sales of PCs and printers. Hewlett Packard Enterprise, which is headed by Meg Whitman and holds the corporate hardware and services businesses, maintained its adjusted profit forecast for the year.

** ABENGOA AG, Tuesday close $4.65, -47.53 pct premarket

Heavily indebted engineering Spanish firm Abengoa is seeking creditor protection after a new investor backed out of injecting fresh equity.

** BIOMARIN PHARMACEUTICAL INC, Tuesday close $97.8, -3.16 pct premarket

** SAREPTA THERAPEUTICS INC, Tuesday close $37.32, -1.63 pct premarket

** PTC THERAPEUTICS INC, Tuesday close $31.75, -9.45 pct premarket

A panel of outside advisers to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration indicated that efficacy data from BioMarin on its experimental drug for treating a muscle wastage disorder was not persuasive enough to warrant approval.

Shares of rivals Sarepta and PTC Therapeutics were also down.

** GUESS INC, Tuesday close $19.54, +5.99 pct premarket

Analysts raised their price target on the stock after the apparel retailer reported better-than-expected third-quarter profit.

** COMCAST CORP, Tuesday close $61.66

The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating whether the biggest U.S. cable TV provider, is hindering competition in cable advertising sales, a source told Reuters.

** NETEASE INC, Tuesday close $164.98, +1.69 pct premarket

Goldman Sachs initiated coverage on the internet firm with a “buy” and said NetEase is likely to sustain strong revenue growth in mobile games in contrast to expectations of loss of market share that current consensus revenue estimates suggest.

** WAL-MART STORES INC, Tuesday close $59.92, +0.12 pct premarket

A U.S. investigation into potential foreign bribery by Wal-Mart has unearthed evidence of possible misconduct by the company in Brazil, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing documents and people familiar with the matter.

** DEERE & CO, Tuesday close $76.34, +4.65 pct premarket

** CNH INDUSTRIAL NV, Tuesday close $6.65, +4.51 pct premarket

Farm equipment maker Deere reported a better-than-expected fourth-quarter profit, helped by lower effective tax rate and costs.

Italian truck and tractor maker CNH Industrial’s shares rose after U.S. peer Deere announced results.

Data storage products maker EMC, in a bid to boost shareholder support for its sale to Dell Inc, will retain a majority stake in Virtustream and abandon a plan to place the loss-making cloud services provider in a joint venture with VMware, people familiar with the matter said.

** COSTCO WHOLESALE CORP, Tuesday close $162.19, -0.29 pct premarket

At least 19 people in seven states may have been infected by E. coli after eating rotisserie chicken salad sold at Costco stores, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Tuesday.

Investigators looking into the E. coli outbreak at Chipotle restaurants face “significant challenges” in finding the source of the sickness, a U.S. food safety detective said.
