The Dow Jones industrial average was down 1.26 percent at 15,714.15, the S&P 500 was down 1.20 percent at 1,829.67 and the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.83 percent at 4,247.953.

** TWITTER INC, $14.4, -3.87 pct

The company reported its first quarter with no growth in users since it went public, stoking fresh concerns on how long it will take for the company to reverse the trend.

** MYLAN NV, $42.63, -15.65 pct

The generic drugmaker said it would acquire Meda AB in a $7.2 billion cash-and-stock deal in its third attempt to buy the Swedish company. At least 3 brokerages cut PT.

** EXPEDIA INC, $99.09, +5.02 pct

The company on Wednesday forecast a rise in 2016 earnings in part from recent acquisitions, pushing shares up even though the company warned that the Nov. 13 Paris attacks hurt travel demand and its fourth-quarter profit fell below analysts’ estimates.

** CISCO SYSTEMS INC, $24.49, +8.80 pct

The network equipment maker reported a bigger-than-expected quarterly profit, helped by higher demand for its routers and security products, and added $15 billion to its share buyback program.

** TRIPADVISOR INC, $60.22, +10.80 pct

The travel review website operator reported a 7.3 percent rise in quarterly revenue as it earned more from display ads and subscriptions.

** FLOWERS FOODS INC, $15.95, -23.83 pct

The packaged bakery foods maker reported lower-than-expected Q4 profit on Wednesday, hurt by lower sales in its direct-store-delivery business and higher legal expenses.

** TESLA MOTORS INC, $155.84, +8.47 pct

Chief Executive Elon Musk says Tesla would make its first net profit by Q4 this year.

** INCYTE CORP, $55.605, -23.10 pct

The company said it would stop testing its best-selling blood cancer drug, Jakafi, in solid tumor cancers after the treatment’s effectiveness was found to be insufficient in a late-stage study.

** AVON PRODUCTS INC, $2.99, -8.00 pct

The company reported a bigger-than-expected drop in quarterly sales as demand for its cosmetics declined further in Latin America, its biggest market.

The Canadian miner reported a surprise quarterly profit as cost cutting helped offset the impact of lower commodity prices.
