U.S. stock index futures were sharply lower on Tuesday after weak Chinese economic data raised concerns about the health of the global economy: Dow Jones industrial average futures were down 0.67 percent at 17,679, S&P 500 futures were down 0.72 percent at 2,059.25 and Nasdaq 100 futures were down 0.72 percent at 4,337.5.
