BUZZ-U.S. STOCKS ON THE MOVE-Tesla, Mid-America Apartment, Valeant

Dow Jones industrial average futures were up 0.22 percent at 18,563, S&P 500 futures were up 0.19 percent at 2,184.5 and Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.20 percent at 4,814.

** TESLA MOTORS INC, Friday close $225.61, +0.49 pct premarket

The electric car maker removed the word “autopilot” and a Chinese term for “self-driving” from its China website after a driver in Beijing who crashed in “autopilot” mode complained that Tesla overplayed the function’s capability and misled buyers.

** MID-AMERICA APARTMENT COMMUNITIES INC, Friday close $102.15, -3.08 pct premarket

** POST PROPERTIES INC, Friday close $62.22

Mid-America Apartment said it would buy Post Properties for about $3.88 billion to create the largest publicly traded multifamily apartment real estate investment trust by units.

** VALEANT PHARMACEUTICALS INTERNATIONAL INC, Friday close $24.92, +3.37 pct premarket

Mizuho Securities raises rating on the Canadian drugmaker’s stock to “neutral” from “underperform”, saying that “because Valeant can relax its interest coverage covenants, we just don’t think it will matter as much if the company misses its guidance in future quarters.” Valeant is offering to pay lenders higher interest rates to obtain an amendment to its debt agreement that would loosen one of its covenants, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

Mizuho, which had an “underperform” rating on the stock since March, more than doubled its price target to $25 from $11.

** XYLEM INC, Friday close $48.45

The U.S. water technology company said it would buy Sensus USA Inc, a provider of advanced metering technologies to utilities, for around $1.7 billion in cash.

** MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL INC, Friday close $71.94

** HYATT HOTELS CORP, Friday close $52.63



A data breach at 20 U.S. hotels operated by HEI Hotels & Resorts for Starwood, Marriott, Hyatt and Intercontinental may have divulged payment card data from tens of thousands of food, drink and other transactions, HEI said on Sunday. The malware affected 12 Starwood hotels, six Marriott properties, one Hyatt hotel and one InterContinental hotel.

** ANTHEM INC, Friday close $130.19

** CIGNA CORP, Friday close $133.31

The judge overseeing the U.S. Justice Department’s bid to stop health insurer Anthem from merging with competitor Cigna said on Friday her goal was to have a ruling by the end of January, later than the Dec. 30 date sought by Anthem.
