BUZZ-U.S. STOCKS ON THE MOVE- Potash Corp, Agrium, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hershey

Wall Street was little changed on Tuesday morning as investors looked for catalysts to drive the markets while keeping one eye on clues for the timing of the next interest rate hike.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.23 percent at 18,460.8, the S&P 500 was down 0.16 percent at 2,176.98 and the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.06 percent at 5,229.211.

** POTASH CORP OF SASKATCHEWAN INC, $18.05, +12.46 pct

** AGRIUM INC, $95.27, +6.47 pct

Fertilizer companies Agrium Inc and Potash Corp of Saskatchewan Inc are in talks about a potential merger, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

** ABERCROMBIE & FITCH CO, $18.16, -20.87 pct

The teen apparel retailer posted a bigger-than-expected loss for the second quarter as efforts to win back shoppers through store remodeling and other measures failed to boost sales and are not expected to do so for the rest of the year.

** MONDELEZ INTERNATIONAL INC, $44.81, +4.11 pct

** HERSHEY CO, $99.94, -10.50 pct

The maker of Oreo cookies and Cadbury chocolates said it was no longer pursuing the acquisition of Hershey, two months after the U.S. chocolate company turned down its $23 billion cash-and-stock bid.

** RIGEL PHARMACEUTICALS INC, $3.64, +37.88 pct

The drugmaker said its experimental drug to treat a bleeding disorder met its main goal in the first of two late-stage trials.

** OREXIGEN THERAPEUTICS INC, $4.29, +12.22 pct


The drugmaker signed a deal with Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc for its weight loss drug, Contrave.

** G-III APPAREL GROUP LTD, $35.74, -14.44 pct

The apparel and accessories maker’s second-quarter sales and profit missed estimates as retail customers of its wholesale business reduced early season orders.


** AMERICAN AIRLINES GROUP INC, $36.45, +0.77 pct

United Continental Holdings Inc has hired the No. 2 executive at rival American Airlines Group, Scott Kirby, to be its president, the companies said on Monday.

** KAMADA LTD, $4.89, +7.95 pct

The drugmaker said its experimental treatment for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (A1AD), a common genetic disorder, met the primary goal of a mid-stage study.

** BONANZA CREEK ENERGY INC, $1.11, +23.13 pct

The oil producer said it would pay interest on senior notes due 2023. Interest on these notes was due Aug. 1, at which time the company elected to not make the interest payment and enter into a 30-day grace period.

** APPLE INC, $106.11, -0.66 pct

EU antitrust regulators ordered Apple on Tuesday to pay up to 13 billion euros ($14.5 billion) in taxes plus interest to the Irish government after ruling that a special scheme to route profits through Ireland was illegal state aid.
