CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens higher for the fourth session on trade optimism

Jan 9 (Reuters) - Canada’s main stock index opened higher for the fourth consecutive session on Wednesday, helped by optimism that United States and China could be nearing a trade deal, which also boosted oil prices by more than 2.5 percent.

* At 9:30 a.m. ET (14:30 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was up 63.38 points, or 0.43 percent, at 14,668.53. (Reporting by Medha Singh in Bengaluru; Editing by James Emmanuel)
