U.S. stock index futures were higher on Wednesday after the Republican Party took control of the Senate in the midterm elections, as had been expected, while investors looked ahead to data expected to show improvement in the labor market. Dow Jones industrial average futures were up 0.51 percent at 17,393, S&P 500 futures were up 0.56 percent at 2,016.75 and Nasdaq 100 futures were up 0.63 percent at 4,169.75.
