U.S. stocks little changed on Monday, on the heels of the S&P 500’s best month in more than three years, as data showed consumer spending remained soft in January and ahead of a report on the manufacturing sector. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.49 percent at 18,220.84, the S&P 500 was up 0.29 percent at 2,110.53 and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.59 percent at 4,992.9.


The hardwood flooring retailer’s shares halted after they fell about 24 percent in premarket trading. The company sold flooring with higher levels of formaldehyde than permitted under California’s health and safety standards, according to television news program “60 Minutes”.

Morgan Stanley downgrades stock to “equal-weight” from “overweight”.

The drug developer signs agreement with Chugai Pharmaceutical Co Ltd to market its cell therapy for ischemic stroke in Japan.

** MAVENIR SYSTEMS INC, $17.04, +16.95 pct

** MITEL NETWORKS CORP, $9.22, -9.25 pct

Canadian telecom services provider Mitel said it would buy mobile networking software maker Mavenir for $560 million in cash and stock.

** NXP SEMICONDUCTORS NV, $96.54, +13.72 pct


Chipmaker NXP Semiconductors has agreed to buy smaller peer Freescale Semiconductor and merge operations in a deal valuing the combined company at over $40 billion.

** VISA INC, $276.14, +1.78 pct

** CITIGROUP INC, $52.77, +0.67 pct

** COSTCO WHOLESALE CORP, $147.816, +0.58 pct

Warehouse club retailer Costco said it had entered into agreements with Citigroup and Visa for co-branded credit cards. Visa shares touches record high of $277.00.

** ONCOLYTICS BIOTECH INC, $0.8154, +11.93 pct

The Canadian biotech company said the U.S. FDA granted its lead drug, Reolysin, orphan status for treatment of fallopian tube cancer.

** PACIRA PHARMACEUTICALS INC, $98.92, -13.81 pct

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration rejected Pacira’s application for expanding the use of its post-surgery pain drug, Exparel.

** AMIRA NATURE FOODS LTD, $10.7, +3.28 pct

The basmati rice distributor reported better-than-expected third quarter profit and revenue, helped by higher demand for its specialty rice products.

** JINKOSOLAR HOLDING CO LTD, $21.35, -2.47 pct

The chinese solar panel maker reported lower-than-expected fourth-quarter profit, hurt by higher costs and expenses. The company also forecast module shipments for the current quarter below fourth-quarter shipment as the company concentrated on building its higher-margin power plant building business.


The synthetic gas (syngas) producer set to provide hydrogen, a byproduct of syngas production, to Shenma Industry Co Ltd. Sinocoking expects new $11 mln plant for hydrogen to be completed in October, to recover costs in nine months of operations.

** ARUBA NETWORKS INC, $24.41, -1.61 pct

** HEWLETT-PACKARD CO, $34.85, +0.03 pct

Hewlett-Packard said it would buy Wi-Fi network gear maker Aruba Networks for about $2.7 billion, the biggest deal for the world’s No. 2 PC maker since its botched acquisition of Britain’s Autonomy Plc in 2011.


The commercial real estate investment trust said it completed restating results for 2011, 2012, 2013 and the first six months of 2014.

** OPKO HEALTH INC, $13.95, -4.19 pct

Drug developer reports bigger-than expected fourth quarter loss, hurt by higher costs.

** BOSTON SCIENTIFIC CORP, $16.92, +0.12 pct

** ENDO INTERNATIONAL PLC, $87.16, +1.82 pct

Boston Scientific will acquire Endo Internationals’ American Medical Systems urology portfolio for up to $1.65 billion. The deal value includes additional $50 million in milestone based on 2016 sales, Boston Scientific said on Monday.

** BLACKBERRY LTD, $11.12, +2.87 pct

Mobile device maker said it plans to offer a cloud-based version of its device management platform BES12, a move that will make the service more accessible to small- and medium-sized businesses that need to secure devices on their own networks.

** SQUARE 1 FINANCIAL INC, $26.4, -4.62 pct

** PACWEST BANCORP, $45.64, -0.43 pct

Regional lender PacWest Bancorp said it agreed to buy Square 1 Financial in an all-stock deal valued at about $849 million. Square 1 stockholders will receive 0.5997 shares of PacWest common stock for each share held, the companies said on Monday. This equates to $27.49 per share based on PacWest’s Friday close.
