The Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.36 percent at 17,067.38, the S&P 500 was up 0.09 percent at 2,001.74 and the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.05 percent at 4,714.485.

** EAGLE BULK SHIPPING INC, $2.8, +117.05 pct

Lenders extended the expiry of a forbearance agreement with the dry bulk shipper to March 8 from March 4.

** CELLDEX THERAPEUTICS INC, $3.9779, -51.43 pct

The drug developer said it would discontinue a late-stage study of its brain cancer vaccine after an independent interim analysis suggested the therapy might not show a statistically significant difference in survival rates compared with chemotherapy.


The biotech company said the fifth patient implanted with its neuro-spinal scaffold device had regained partial sensation during a six-month treatment.


At least four brokerages start coverage on the biotech company’s stock, citing its promising cystic fibrosis drug.


The oil and natural gas producer suspended distributions on its common and preferred units on Friday. FBR Capital Markets downgraded the stock to “market perform” from “outperform”, saying the suspension was likely influenced by the company’s upcoming borrowing base redetermination.

KLR Group raised the oil and gas producer’s price target to $2.50 from $0.50 and Wunderlich to $1.50 from $1 after the company reported a lower-than-expected quarterly adjusted loss of 12 cents per share on Thursday.


The drug developer said a dose of its experimental antiviral drug improved survival rates in mice infected with the Zika virus in a preclinical study.

The Umbro and Lee Cooper brands owner announced a new five-year $300 million term loan credit facility provided by credit funds managed by affiliates of Fortress Investment Group LLC.

** CLIFFS NATURAL RESOURCES, $3.42, +18.34 pct

The iron ore miner’s shares rose as spot iron ore prices rocketed nearly 20 percent to their highest in more than eight months, helped by expectations that Chinese steel mills are planning a short-term output boost.

The data analytics provider said an audit committee has started a review of potential accounting matters.

The lighting products maker said it may not be possible for the company to exit its LED products business, its second biggest by revenue, after the U.S. government blocked Dutch lighting company Koninklijke Philips NV’s sale of its U.S. components division to Asian buyers on security grounds.
