BUZZ-U.S. STOCKS ON THE MOVE-Cerecor, Champions Oncology and energy and bank stocks

Gains in energy and bank stocks pushed the Dow and the S&P 500 to record intraday highs on Wednesday, while the Nasdaq took a hit from declines in technology stocks.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.41 percent at 19,199.63, the S&P 500 was up 0.11 percent at 2,207.14 and the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.60 percent at 5,347.383.

** ARROWHEAD PHARMACEUTICALS , $1.45, -66.97 pct

The gene-silencing therapy developer on Tuesday said it would stop developing all drugs being tested on humans due to a setback in its drug-delivery technology.

** COSTAMARE INC , $5.68, -14.59 pct

The marine transportation services provider said an upsized offering of 12 million shares was priced at $6 apiece, with said majority-holder Konstantakopoulos family committed to buy about $10 million worth of the deal.

The wearable action camera maker said it would cut about 15 percent of its workforce and shutter its entertainment business, as the one-time Wall Street favorite cuts costs to help it return to profitability.

** OCULAR THERAPEUTIX INC, $9.55, -2.85 pct

The eye drug developer entered a controlled equity offering sales agreement with Cantor Fitzgerald & Co to offer and sell common shares in an aggregate offering of up to $40 million.

** FIRST BANCORP, $5.93, -6.91 pct

The Puerto Rico-based financial holding company announced a secondary public offering of 18 million shares at $5.60 per share.

** FARMLAND PARTNERS, $11.06, -6.59 pct

The agricultural REIT offered 3.1 million shares priced at $11.25 apiece, 5 percent discount to the stock’s last close, for gross proceeds of about $33.3 million.

** SPLUNK INC, $59.50, +3.70 pct

At least 5 brokerages raised their target prices on the stock after the data analytics software maker posted better-than expected third-quarter revenue and profit. Also, the company’s revenue forecast for the fourth-quarter was higher than the average analyst estimate.

** TIFFANY & CO, $82.60, +2.48 pct

Multiple brokerages raised their target prices on the stock after the luxury jeweler reported its first increase in quarterly sales in 2 years on Monday.


The frac sand supplier said it repurchased $213 million of term loans outstanding under its existing credit agreement at a discount.

** KINDER MORGAN INC, $22.15, +3.50 pct

Canada on Tuesday approved the pipeline operator’s hotly contested plan to build a pipeline from the Alberta oil sands to the Pacific coast, setting up a battle with environmentalists who helped elect Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

** WINGSTOP INC, $30.84, +2.83 pct

Hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson said on Tuesday that he shorted the restaurant operator’s stock.
