BUZZ-K+S slides after Q4 profit slump

* Shares in K+S drop more than 3 pct to the bottom of the MDAX index after the German potash miner reports an 84 pct decline in Q4 operating profit

* K+S says it expects a tangible increase in 2017 revenues and operating earnings and affirms its medium-term guidance. Analysts on average see revenues coming to 3.95 bln euros vs 3.5 bln in 2016, EBIT I at 445 mln euros vs 229 mln in 2016

* Stock weakness may spur some short-covering and support the price, Baader Helvea analyst Markus Mayer says, noting that K+S is one of the most shorted stocks in Europe

* Shares in K+S are up 12 pct over the past 12 mths but are down 1.2 pct over the past month (RM: maria.sheahan.thomsonreuters.com@reuters.net)
