Figure skating-World champion Chan splits with coach

(Reuters) - Canada’s Patrick Chan split with his coach just two weeks after he became the first male skater in six years to win back-to-back titles at the world championships, Skate Canada said on Monday.

No reason was given for the decision and a brief statement said only that the two had concluded their coaching relationship and that Christy Krall resigned from Chan’s team.

Krall is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and coached Chan to world titles in 2011 and last month in Nice, France.

Chan will maintain his training base in Colorado Springs and continue to work with Kathy Johnson, another member of this coaching staff.
