Avalanche activate forward Ian Laperriere from IR

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Colorado Avalanche have activated forward Ian Laperriere from the injured reserve list, the NHL club announced on Wednesday.

Laperriere will be available for Wednesday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena, the team said on its Web site (

The 33-year-old forward had missed the last nine games with a knee injury suffered on November 11 against Minnesota.

Laperriere has six points from two goals and four assists along with 31 penalty minutes in 17 games for Colorado this season. In 874 career NHL games, Laperriere has registered 284 points off 109 goals and 175 assists.

In a related move, the Avalanche (14-11-1) reassigned forward Wyatt Smith to Lake Erie of the American Hockey League.
