Canada teen killed as gravel truck hits school bus

CALGARY, Alberta (Reuters) - A Canadian teen was killed and several others injured on Wednesday when a gravel truck slammed into a school bus stopped on a foggy rural Alberta highway, police said.

The bus had 11 students plus the driver on board.

Investigators are trying to determine why the truck hit the bus, as well as an SUV stopped behind it, near Rimbey, Alberta, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sgt. Patrick Webb said.

A 17-year-old girl died shortly after the morning crash and a boy, also 17, was in hospital in critical but stable condition. Several other students received minor injuries but did not require hospitalization, Webb said.
