China detains man wanted for Canadian's murder

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Chinese police have detained a man suspected of murdering a Canadian woman at her apartment in Shanghai earlier this week, state media said on Friday.

The suspect, Chen Jun, was arrested in eastern Anhui province five days after 23-year-old Canadian model Diana O‘Brien was found stabbed to death, the official Xinhua news agency said.

Chen is 18, it added.

“Chen confessed he followed O‘Brien to her apartment on Sunday night for a planned robbery. The woman resisted and he killed her,” Xinhua said, citing a police spokesman.

The report said the case was still under investigated.
