TORONTO (Reuters) - Finance Minister Jim Flaherty and Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney will meet with Chinese government officials and business leaders in August to strengthen and expand business ties with China.
Julie Dickson, head of Canada’s federal regulator, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, as well as other government officials and financial sector executives, will also participate in the Canadian mission to China.
The meetings will take place between August 8 and 14.
“China is one of Canada’s most important trading partners,” Flaherty said in a statement.
“I am confident that these meetings will lead to increased co-operation and business ties between our countries and help speed the economic recovery.”
