Shell says no evacuation from oil sands mine

CALGARY, Alberta (Reuters) - Royal Dutch Shell Plc denied media reports on Monday that its northern Alberta oil sands mining operation had been evacuated because of a wildfire threat.

The Calgary Herald reported on its website that projects owned by Shell as well as Canadian Natural Resources Ltd were evacuated on Monday because of an out-of-control forest fire near Fort McMurray.

A spokesman for Shell said that was not the case. Canadian Natural could not be immediately reached for comment.
