OTTAWA (Reuters) - Finance Minister Jim Flaherty called for a “clear voice” from Europe so as to avoid the Greek debt crisis from spreading.
“The concern now is with the situation in Europe, and making sure there’s a strong, clear voice in Europe and a clear plan, a clear way forward, so that we do not have this situation of potential contagion in Europe,” Flaherty told reporters.
He expects Group of Seven leaders will hold more conference calls on Greece’s debt situation. European leaders are also expected to keep up pressure on Athens to push forward with an austerity program.
