Potash Corp's profit climbs 217 percent

TORONTO (Reuters) - Potash Corp of Saskatchewan POT.TO said on Thursday its second-quarter earnings soared 217 percent as record world grain prices boosted demand for fertilizer amid tight world supplies of the nutrients, sending fertilizer prices skyward.

The world’s largest fertilizer company said it earned $905.1 million, $2.82 a share, for the quarter ended June 30, up from $285.7 million, or 88 cents a share, a year earlier.
